The other day I had a very interesting conversation with one of my best friends who is a professional international basketball player. He expressed his deep concern about his future after his playing days are over. The average career of an International Basketball Player is 5 years for most American imports and my friend has played 10. He told me about his early years as an International Basketball Player and how the money flowed, the girls and getting jobs was easy. My friend said this “When you are young you don’t think about the end of your career because you feel like you can play forever.” My friend said he wished someone would have stressed the importance of saving and investing his money wisely. He wished he would have been more educated on the teams he chose to play for because he expressed how chasing the money isn’t the best way for an International Basketball Player to decide where to play.
