One of the best songs ever written is Bobby McFerrin’s hit single, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. Recently there was an accident that closed a highway here in Jacksonville and I had the opportunity to observe people’s reactions. I watched as some of the people on the highway did many different things while waiting. Some listened to their radio, some got out of their car to talk with other drivers, a few looked like they were working or reading, and some even took a quick power nap. But, I’m sure you can imagine that there were a handful got pretty agitated and even down right fighting mad. Outside of their car stomping around, cursing, and pissed off, they believed that this was the best way to handle to delay, which none of us could control of, to be very unhappy, stomping, and cursing. I thought of a comment by Abraham Lincoln, “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

To eliminate stress I meditate, workout, eat well, and get good sleep-you know all those good things. Yet, at the end of my vacation week, I was so much more rested, sharp, and refreshed than when I left.
