How to Manage More Effectively to be a Successful Leader

Managing Your Responsibilities To Be a Successful Leader

With great power, most certainly great responsibility will follow. When you assume the role as “the leader”, you attain the power. You are seen as the most capable among peers which is a very flattering compliment. You receive the authority to give others orders. But as the leader, there is also expectation for you to accomplish many things. Your mind has countless things to focus on. You have to manage a team of adults with egos, attitudes, expectations. Your hands are full. Time is steadily moving and the pressure gets to some but your responsibility is to learn how to avoid that catastrophe.

But how will you handle it when unexpected obstacles arise? What if things go wrong while you are working on a important project? What about little things like sudden loss of internet connection or unexpectedly, your two employees called in sick on a particular day? Should you already be frantic, cursing and admitting defeat in such instances?

It’s O.K. To Make Mistakes as Long as Your Learn From Them

Mistakes can be frustrating and are inevitable. An effective leader, always prepares themselves as good as possible by careful planning to hopefully minimize mistakes. You should leave room for margins of error. Be prepared for infuriating events and know how to handle them. Find ways to do something about the nuisance. And more importantly, know how to redirect your slip-ups, that is, divert your frustrations and convert them into something positive that will put you closer to success. These obstacles become seeds of opportunity that help you improve, to discover, and to realize other things.

In the workplace, would you just complain about the internet being disconnected? You should take some time and get up out of your desk and talk with your team individually for a period of time each week. These conversations will be your best chance to learn more about what’s going on in the market and a good chance to build relationships which create more effective teams. In most companies the employees are in the day to day mix of the industry and can provide insight that can make your business more successful. It may also be an opportunity for you to review your resources, or scan your outputs, or check your area for problems you may not have recognized when you were busy with meetings, reports, and conference calls. When you sit down and share a cup of coffee with several of your employees, maybe exchange stories for a while, and escape the stress of the dya to day grind. Don’t let little issues overwhelm you. They may be annoying, time wasting, and horrific, yet, they could also when done well can lead you forward to achieve and accomplish other things. The obstacles of management are the seeds opportunities for you and your team to improve and succeed.

I discuss in my audio, Make A Decision To Win, I discuss that if you doubt you, you will not move forward. Any ounce of energy that you give to negative energy will take away from the positive energy that helps you to achieve. Just the thought alone that it cannot happen will take away from positive results.
