False Beliefs About The Purpose of Education
Today’s economic downturn exposes the false beliefs about the purpose of education. Why is education so important? Why do we need education? The truth has been exposed more now than in the times of the Great Depression that a college education no longer guarantees you job security. The daily news reports hundreds of stories daily of highly successful college graduates who are feeling the sting of a turbulent economy and are experiencing the same hardships as someone who has no college education.
The false beliefs about the purpose of education began during the 50’s and 60’s when a college education guaranteed you’d live a comfortable life with job security. In today’s society the value of education has decreased significantly and many feel like there is no purpose for a college education. In truth it has been the false beliefs about the purpose of education that has led us the country into economic condition we are in. Here’s why…
Education is a necessity for success but what your educated in will impact your income. Did you know that over 80% of today’s Millionaire’s and Billionaire’s in this country have no formal college education? How did these men and women become so successful without what society would call the highest honor for a your person a “college diploma”? Let me be clear about something, I’m not saying that these me were uneducated derelicts who got lucky. These men were extremely educated in their chosen niche profession or trade. Henry Ford who was one of the richest men in the world in his time had very little education. Andrew Carnegie who had quit school as a young boy became the richest man in world. Why?
It’s because these men and many other very successful people never allowed themselves to become consumed by the false beliefs about the purpose of education. Colleges and Universities are excellent at developing the memory capacity of our youth but it strips them of their ability of creative expression. To be educated about anything means to have knowledge about that particular thing but is the knowledge general or specific. Let me explain the difference…a General college education is getting a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and a specific college education is Master of Public Administration Criminal Justice. Now, who do you believe will have a better chance of keeping their job?
In today’s economy millions are in search of a bandaid to heal the wounds from the financial beating they’ve been taking over the last year. I believe that the changing the false beliefs about education that we push onto our children should be re-evaluated. Personal development and self improvement should be encouraged as much as sitting in a room where you are told to be quite and listen as you are told what’s best for you. I went to college for three years and flunked out, since that time I’ve written several very successful personal development e-books, teach success seminars, and deliver a message to the youth that formal education has never been what brings success. It is the ability to think creatively that has brought our world from a place of using rocks to start fires to walking on other planets.
The development of the creative mind is what attracts success. If become rich and successful as how many degrees you have there are some who’d be super rich, but it’s not. It depends on our ability to think outside of the box and this ability comes from the creative use of our minds and our success development. Henry Ford’s education is as important as the many college educated lawyers he employed. Henry Ford developbed his ability to think creatively and because of this the world has benefited a great deal. In todays’ society the awareness of self improvement and personal development is the only way that the country can become what it was founded to be. While an education is neccessary to become successful. Whether it’s a college education or an education leaned from experience the choice is yours what to do with your acquired knowledge and whether your develop the ability to think and grow rich and remove the false beliefs about the purpose of education.
